Bombilla de Parras

2022. Parras, Coahuila
Branding, Identity,

Evaristo Madero played a pivotal role as a sponsor in some of Thomas Alva Edison's most groundbreaking experiments, including the invention of the electric light bulb. In Parras, Mexico in January of 1880, Edison and Madero met to illuminate the very first light bulb in Latin America.

Today, the Madero family's descendants have curated an impressive collection of over 100 light bulbs sourced from all the edges of the globe. This collection also encompasses a treasure trove of documents, advertising campaigns, vintage posters and books that chronicle the global evolution of the light bulb.
In 2023 the Madero family approached Panamá Studio with the idea of creating a wine bar and historic museum site to display their collection and pay homage to Madero’s legacy. For this project, we were tasked with creating a distinctive brand identity for the venue, which would serve as an exhibition space and wine bar for the Parras’ community.

For the brand identity we carefully selected a typographic palette that carries historical meaning, both inspiring in the format of the project’s and invention’s documentation, and calling to mind popular advertisements from the late 1800s. A notable hallmark of the identity is the light bulb illustration, which depicts the first Edison lightbulb. Also, the brand's core identity is anchored by a primary logo that is supported by different logo variations that expand and compliment a unique brand universe, which is implemented across all brand channels.
